The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the operation of special trains to cater to the increased passenger demand for the Velankanni Festival and the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025.
For the Velankanni Festival, two special train services will run between Secunderabad and Velankanni. Train number 07125 will depart from Secunderabad on December 30, at 8 p.m, reaching Velankanni the next day at 7.30 p.m. The return service, train number 07126, will depart from Velankanni on January 1 at 10 p.m and reach Secunderabad at 10.45 p.m the following day. These trains will halt at prominent stations like Guntur, Tenali, Nellore and Katpadi, among others. The coaches will include 2AC, 3AC, sleeper, and general second class accommodations.
In preparation for the Maha Kumbh Mela, SCR will operate 12 special trains between various destinations. Four services will be run by train number 07107 from Tirupati to Varanasi. These trains are scheduled to depart Tirupati at 8.55 p.m every Saturday on January 18, February 8, February 15, and February 22. The trains will arrive in Varanasi at 3.45 p.m the following Monday. In the return direction, train number 07108 will operate from Varanasi to Vijayawada, departing every Tuesday at 5.30 p.m on January 20, February 10, February 17, and February 24. This service will reach Vijayawada at 5.30 a.m the next day.
In addition, two services have been scheduled between Narsapur and Varanasi, by train number 07109. These trains will depart from Narsapur at 6 a.m on January 25 and February 1, arriving in Varanasi at 3.45 p.m the next day. The return journey, by train number 07110, will depart from Varanasi at 5.30 p.m on January 27 and February 3 and reach Narsapur by 5 a.m the following day.
These special trains will pass through several prominent stations, including Gudur, Nellore, Vijayawada, Vizianagaram, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Ranchi, and Varanasi. The trains are equipped with a combination of 2AC, 3AC, and sleeper class coaches.
