South Central Railway (SCR) was bestowed six national energy conservation awards for 2024 at a function held by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the aegis of the Ministry of Power. Union Minister of State for Power and Renewable Energy Shripad Y. Naik presented the awards in Delhi on Saturday.

The awards include those for Guntakal Divisional Railway Hospital, Renigunta railway station, Jammikunta railway station and certificates of merit for Central Hospital-Lallaguda in Hyderabad and Nizamabad railway stations. Principal chief electrical engineer Brij Mohan Meena, DRM Guntakal M. Vijay Kumar and other senior officials received the prizes. General Manager Arun Kumar Jain congratulated the winners.

The zone has been able to bag these awards through energy efficiency and green initiatives such as LED lighting, inverter-type star-rated precision AC units, HVAC control and temperature monitoring, energy savers and occupancy sensors, solar energy, timers for water coolers/rolling examination lights and bifurcation of fan circuits at platforms to switch off 70% fans during the idle time.
