Keslapur village in Indervelli mandal of Adilabad district is getting ready for the ‘Nagoba jatara’, the famous annual tribal fair of the Mesram clan of Gonds, scheduled to be held from January 28 to February 4, 2025.
With less than a week to go for the mega religious event, the district administration started making arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the annual jatara in Keslapur.
The jatara will begin with ‘Varooli Prathishta’ (making of Nagoba’s sacred anthill of clay) followed by ‘Nagoba Mahapuja’ at 10 p.m. on the night of January 28. A host of traditional rituals and religious activities will be held at the Nagoba (the serpent God) temple as part of the annual tribal fair.Â
The Nagoba darbar (the traditional grievance redressal meeting) will be held in Keslapur village at 11 a.m. on January 31, official sources said.
The jatara will draw Adivasi Gonds from far and wide including the neighbouring Maharashtra.
