The Souhardya Karnataka Vedike-Kalaburagi will organise a three-day conference, Bahutva Samskriti Bharatotsava-2025, from Friday to discuss issues related to distressed farmers and unemployment problems in Kalyana Karnataka region.
Vedike members Meenakshi Bali and R.K. Hudgi, addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, said that the conference will discuss the prevailing atmosphere in society. it will provide a platform for exchange of ideas that can benefit society in turmoil.
Ms. Bali said that communal forces are desperately trying to destroy the State’s secular social fabric. Particularly, youngsters are being used as tools to sow divisions, differences between communities and to spread communal hatred and violence.
On Friday, the conference will kick-start through a bike rally, Souhardya Yatra.
Chairperson of Sharnbasveshwara Vidya Vardhak Sangha Dakshayini S. Appa will flag off the bike rally on the Sharanabasaveshwar temple premises.
The rally will pass through Jagat Circle, garlanding the statues of B.R. Ambedkar and social reformer Basaveshwara. The rally will conclude on the Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah premises.
On Saturday, the vedike will organize Bhavaikyada Honalu: Samanvayada Gayana Gamalu, where Tatvapadas, Vachanas and Sufi songs will be played. These have been passed down generations as they play an important role in erasing the boundaries of castes and religion by strengthening the social fabric.
Seer of Sanehalli Taralabalu Mutt Sri Panditaradhya Shivacharya will inaugurate the conference on Sunday. Sri Siddarama Swami of Gadag Tontadarya Mutt and Sr Basavalinga Pattaddevaru of Bhalki Hiremath will preside over the function.
Syed Shah Ali Al-Hussain, Sajjada Nasheen of Hazrat Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah, Gurumahanth Mahaswami of Ilkal, Sri Jnanaprakash Mahaswami of Urilinga Peddi Mutt of Mysuru and religious heads of different communities will address the gathering.
Progressive thinkers, activists, literary figures, including T.R. Chandrashekar, S.G. Siddaramaiah, Rehmat Tarikere, G.B. Patil, D.G. Sagar and others will be chief guests on the occasion.
Ms. Bali said that the conference will also discuss the rising unemployment rate, increasing crimes and other problems. The youths of this region should study the annals of the rich history and social fabric of the Kalyana Karnataka region and keep away from spreading hatred on the basis of religion, caste and political affiliations, she added.
