Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday defended the law and order situation prevailing in the State. He contended that there were attempts to intentionally blow isolated incidents out of proportion.
During an interaction with reporters, Mr. Stalin said: “As for we are concerned, the law and order situation is good. Industries from other countries and other States are coming here because of that.”
Mr. Stalin was asked about opposition parties’ criticism of the law and order situation in the State. He interacted with journalists during his visit to North Chennai where he reviewed the works undertaken under the comprehensive development plan for that area.
Over the consistent attempts by some attempting to criticise the life of late social reformer ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramasamy, Mr. Stalin said he was not willing to accord respect to those who disrepected ‘Periyar’. “’Periyar’ is not only our leader. He is the leader for our leaders.”
Asked about Governor R.N. Ravi’s consistent criticism, Mr. Stalin said: “he has been acting against the government on all issues. It is good for us. He should continue to do it.” Mr. Stalin went on to say: “His actions are good for this government. Let him keep doing it. I request him to keep doing it.”
When asked about Governor’s action over appointing the Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, the CM said: “He has been doing it continuously. We have moved the court and is being heard by the Supreme Court. It is coming up for hearing on 4th.”
To a query over his charge over last Union Budget that Tamil Nadu had been boycotted, Mr. Stalin said the MPs had highlighted the demands from the State and said he would wait for the presentation of the Union Budget.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Stalin visited various areas in north Chennai and reviewed the works undertaken under the comprehensive plan for development in that area.
