Telangana has received much more from this year’s central budget for various schemes and in some instances much more than Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, claimed BJP leaders here on Thursday.
At a press conference at the State office, MPs – Eatala Rajender (Malkajgiri), Konda Visweshwar Reddy (Chevella) and Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy, stated that when the money spent for paddy procurement, fertilizers supply, working women hostels and others is considered, Telangana had received more than what the Congress government admits.
Mr. Visweshwar Reddy contended that the local bodies whether municipalities or gram panchayats are currently functioning only because of the funds disbursed from the Finance Commission recommendations, property tax, trade licences and AMRUT scheme of the Centre.
Both the current Congress government as well as the previous BRS government have neglected the local bodies not even providing the matching grants required to take up or complete certain key infrastructure projects, they charged.
Mr. Rajender alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had “no experience in governance” and it was showing up with his dependence on “using money power and social media” to blame other parties for everything including failure to ground the “unimplementable promises”.
Mr. Maheshwar Reddy questioned the Chief Minister’s frequent Delhi trips and campaigning for the MLC polls, when he was needed to focus on the rescue operations of the eight workers trapped under the SLBC project.
