The State government has ratified the decision of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board to provide relief measures to the victims of the recent stampede at Tirumala.
The tragic incident claimed several lives and left many injured, prompting immediate intervention from the temple administration and the government.
As per a Government Order issued on Tuesday by V. Vinay Chand, Secretary to Government (Endowments), the government endorsed Resolution No. 178, dated January 10, 2025, of the TTD Board, which outlines various relief measures. The board sanctioned an ex-gratia payment of ₹25 lakh each to the families of the deceased devotees, ₹5 lakh each to those who sustained severe injuries, and ₹2 lakh each to devotees with minor injuries. These payments have been approved as immediate relief based on the list provided by the Tirupati district administration.
In addition to financial assistance, the TTD Board decided to offer employment support to the families of the deceased. One eligible family member of each deceased devotee will be provided a job opportunity on a contract or outsourcing basis within the TTD. Furthermore, the board also announced educational assistance for the children of the deceased. They will be offered free education in TTD-run institutions or financial support up to graduation-level, depending on their needs and requests.
