Two debt-ridden farmers found dead in Kalaburagi district

Two farmers were found dead in as many incidents in Kalaburagi district.

While 55-year-old Dattatraya Melkeri of Kadadur village in Kalagi taluk was found dead on Tuesday, 40-year-old Ashok from Yelinawadgi village in Aland taluk was found dead on Monday night.

According to the police, Dattatreya had taken ₹10 lakh loan from private moneylenders, ₹2 lakh from SBI Kalagi branch and ₹50,000 from the Primary Agricultural Credit Society.

Unable to repay these loans, the farmer took the extreme step. Kalagi Police have registered a case.

Similarly, Ashok had taken loans up to ₹15 lakh for agriculture activities. Narona Police have registered a case.
