The Wayanad Press Club will organise a conclave on Thursday to assure the public that the district remains safe after the Chooralmala landslide, and to discuss development opportunities for the hill district.
Speaker A.N. Shamseer will inaugurate the programme at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church Jubilee Auditorium here.
The conclave will address various topics, including the place of Wayanad in Kerala’s development map, Dalit women’s political dynamics in Wayanad, opportunities and challenges in professional education, experiences and lessons from the Chooralmala landslide, the role of local media during natural disasters, and new avenues and possibilities in the tourism sector.
Mathrubhumi managing director M.V. Shreyamskumar, who was recently elected chairman of the Indian Newspaper Society, will be honoured on the occasion.
Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan, Indian Union Muslim League State secretary M.K. Muneer, CPI leader Annie Raja, T. Siddique, MLA, and district panchayat president Samshad Marakkar will be present.
