Anert’s green hydrogen mobility proposal receives nod

Spread the News

A proposal submitted by the Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (Anert) for piloting a green hydrogen mobility project has received the go-ahead, Anert officials said.

The Anert proposal includes two fuel cell-based and two hydrogen internal combustion engine-based trucks and two hydrogen refuelling units. The proposal had been submitted to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), which functions under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, for implementation under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

The nodal agency for green hydrogen initiatives in Kerala, Anert described the project as the State’s maiden venture into hydrogen mobility. The Anert proposal was one of seven, and the only one by a State-level nodal agency, that was selected from 13 proposals received by the ARAI, according to Anert officials.

Under the central project, Anert is eligible for a viability gap funding of ₹35 crore, equivalent to 90% of the cost. As project partners, Anert has roped in Ashok Leyland (hydrogen trucks), Bharat Petroleum and Greenstat (hydrogen refuelling plants) and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (operation).
