The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, has forecast light to moderate rainfall for the city from December 12 to 14, as a low-pressure area is forming over the south-east Bay of Bengal and the adjoining east equatorial Indian Ocean.

“It is likely to move west to north-west and become more marked during the next 24 hours. It is very likely to continue to move west to north-west thereafter and reach the south-west Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts around December 11. The upper air cyclonic circulation over the south-west and the adjoining south-east Arabian Sea extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked,” it stated.

IMD said that under this influence south-interior Karnataka will receive light to moderate rainfall at many places, and heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely on December 12 and 13. Coastal Karnataka is very likely to receive light to moderate rainfall at isolated places with heavy rainfall at isolated places on December 13.

IMD, Bengaluru, scientist C.S. Patil said that there is a possibility of light rainfall over Bengaluru on December 12. Likewise the city is very likely to experience light to moderate rainfall on December 13 and 14.

Incessant rain lashed Bengaluru owing to Cyclone Fengal last week and the city also witnessed a drop in temperatures.
