Carlsberg India, a subsidiary of Carlsberg Group from Denmark which claims a brewing heritage of over 178 years, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government to invest ₹350 crore to expand its existing brewery in Mysuru.
The fresh funds would enhance Carlsberg’s production capabilities by adding a new can line, glass line, and keg line. This expansion is expected to boost the overall capacity of the brewery and help meet growing demand for beer across the country.
Nilesh Patel, managing director, Carlsberg India said, ‘‘Karnataka is a key market for Carlsberg India, and this expansion underscores our long-term commitment to the State. Our investment will not only support economic growth but also generate additional employment opportunities in the coming years.”
With the new investment, Carlsberrg’s cumulative investment in the State has gone up to ₹600 crore, said the company.
Carlsberg India’s Mysuru brewery, located in Nanjangud taluk on 28 acres of land, currently has an annual production capacity of 80 million litres and manufactures Carlsberg and Tuborg products.
Sustainability is integral to Carlsberg’s operations, with over 85% of electricity at the brewery sourced from renewable energy, and the facility being fully LED-lit to enhance energy efficiency, as per a company statement.
