CBG plants to produce one crore tonne of organic manure for farmers: RIL

Spread the News

The byproduct from Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants will yield one crore tonne of fermented organic manure to support farmers, with a reduction in both consumption and expenditure of chemical fertilisers, said P.M.S. Prasad, executive director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).

He was addressing a gathering at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a CBG plant at Divakarapuram village in Prakasam district on Wednesday. “This plant will transform 15 lakh acres of barren land into fertile farmland, boosting farmer incomes,” he said.

“We see this project as more than an energy production centre. It will uplift communities and boost local economies, and will drive Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy ambitions forward. We are committed to turn waste into green wealth, energy into empowerment, and land into livelihood,” Mr. Prasad added.

On the same occasion, Harindra K. Tripathi, CEO of RIL Bio Energy, said, “Bioeconomy has grown 16 times in the last decade, from ₹83,300 crore in 2014 to ₹13.80 lakh crore in 2024. Government of India has set an ambitious target to achieve ₹25 lakh crore bioeconomy by 2030.”

“Biofuels can cater to around 7 per cent of India’s total energy requirement, bringing energy security for the country and reduce dependency on imported fuel, which will help in saving ₹2.5 lakh crore in foreign exchange,” he said. “RIL has always believed in the potential of Andhra Pradesh. After Gujarat, our biggest investment of about ₹1 lakh crore is in this State,” the CEO informed.

“A.P. has always welcomed industrialisation in developing sectors with open arms, and biofuel sector is no exception, and we have worked closely with the State to bring large-scale investments that fuel growth and prosperity,” he added, citing this is just the beginning of a transformational journey to drive industrial growth, job creation, and a cleaner, greener future for A.P. and India.
