Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded the State government to clear the long-pending students’ fee reimbursement arrears before Sankranti.
“If the State government fails to do so, massive protests will be launched under the leadership of BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy after Sankranti,” Mr. Sanjay said.
He was speaking to the media after felicitating candidates of the Deen Dayal Coaching Centre who secured government jobs, at his camp office in Karimnagar on Sunday. The Union Minister congratulated the successful candidates of the coaching centre established by him to provide free coaching to job aspirants.
He said that lakhs of students are facing severe hardships and college managements are on the verge of closure due to non-release of fee reimbursement arrears. The managements are exerting pressure on students to pay fees, he pointed out, reiterating his demand for immediate release of arrears.
He further demanded that the Congress government fulfil its promise of recruiting 2 lakh job aspirants. The Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre announced in October 2022 that it would fill 10 lakh jobs. So far, 9.25 lakh jobs have been filled and appointment letters given to candidates, he claimed.
In contrast, the Congress government in Telangana failed to fulfill any of the promises it made under its Youth Declaration, he alleged.
“People at the helm in the State didn’t even honour their commitment to provide an unemployment allowance of ₹4,000 per month. This government owes ₹48,000 in arrears to each unemployed youth in the State,” he said, reiterating his demand for payment of unemployment allowance forthwith.
Gift before Sankranti
He thanked the Central government for inviting tenders for Regional Ring Road works. “This is a Sankranti gift from the Central government to the people of Telangana,” he said.
