A 28-year-old dairy farmer was electrocuted while erecting a steel fencing in a farmland at Periyankuppam near Ambur on Wednesday.Â
Police said the deceased has been identified as B. Venkatesan, a native of Periyankuppam village. Initial inquiry revealed that along with a few workers, Venketasan was involved in erecting steel fencing around the shed to protect goats and pigs when he mistakenly stepped on to a live electric wire.Â
Immediately he was thrown a few metres away. Other workers rushed to the spot and disconnected the power supply. They shifted Venkatesan to Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town where doctors said that he was dead on arrival. A case was registered by Ambur taluk police. A probe is under way.Â
