A draft package has been prepared to fix compensation for the land acquired in connection with the construction of the Koottikada railway overbridge in Kollam taluk.
A total of 99.48 acres of land in Eravipuram and Mayyanad villages will be acquired for the project. The Deputy Collector (LA), in charge of land acquisition and rehabilitation, has prepared the rehabilitation and resettlement package after conducting a direct site inspection and ₹96,12,000 will be provided as compensation.
Compensation will be provided to those who lose their houses, commercial establishments, small businesses, and those who worked in them. Those who have been residing in the area for more than three years prior to the land acquisition notification are eligible for compensation. The draft proposes to allocate ₹4,60,000 each to 15 people who lose their houses, ₹2,00,000 each to two people with commercial establishments, ₹1,00,000 each to 17 people running small businesses, and ₹36,000 rupees each to 17 people who work in these establishments.
