Three months after diarrhoea claimed 10 lives at Gurla village in Vizianagaram district, five cases of diarrhoea were reported at another village in the district in the last 48 hours, prompting the district administration to set up an emergency medical camp at Bondapalli on Monday, January 20.
Two people who fell unconscious from symptoms of diarrhoea and weakness were shifted to the district hospital, and three others are being treated at the camp.
Rural Water Supply and Panchayat department officials have also visited the village to ensure safe drinking water and improve sanitation.
Collector B.R. Ambedkar directed District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Jeevan Rani to take preventive measures and contain the spread of the infection.
