Five people were detained for allegedly testing positive for narcotics during surprise checks across Hyderabad on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2024).
The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), along with local police, Special Operations Teams, Excise Department and dog squads, conducted tests at various pubs, farmhouses and resorts on Tuesday night.
Of the five detained, one was from a farmhouse, two from pubs and two while random vehicle checks, said TGANB director Sandeep Shandilya. “Four of them tested positive for marijuana and one of them for methamphetamine, along with marijuana. The raids were conducted at multiple locations, with focus on high-traffic areas. Special teams were deployed to perform on-site drug tests,” he said.
The TGANB said that the citizens are encouraged to report drug-related cases or drug abuse by calling toll-free number 1908 or the control room at 8712671111 or email to tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in.
