The Tirupati police on Wednesday (February 12) said they have arrested an inter-State gang of thieves who operated across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Stolen ornaments worth ₹25 lakh have been recovered from them.
According to the police, the accused, G. Sudhakar (34), Pille Sekhar (42) from Hyderabad and G. Srinivasulu Reddy (23) of Giddalur in Prakasam district, targeted colonies in remote areas in the two states. They would select a house during a reconnaissance and strike it at night.
Addressing a media conference here, Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju said the gang had broken into two houses at Tirumala Nagar under Settipalli Panchayat limits on January 18 and 23 and stole valuables. A case was subsequently registered at Tiruchanur police station.
The police tracked and arrested them near the RTO’s Office at Mangalam on Wednesday and stolen gold ornaments weighing 277 gram and a car were recovered from them.
