The Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools of Karnataka (KAMS), an association of state board schools, has demanded the state government reduce the minimum pass marks in SSLC from 35% to 33%.
A day after the announcement by the minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa on reverting the minimum pass marks from 25% which was implemented in Covid years to 35% for this year, the association has petitioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to revise the same.
In the petition, the association mentioned about the minimum pass marks fixed at other boards.
“Pass marks in other boards including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is only 33%, causing disadvantage to the state board students. And, this could be one of the major reasons for students shifting from State to other boards, and even many State board schools are closing down,” the petition stated.
