KLE Society will organise the KLE Student Scholarship-2025 Exam on January 5 to students gain free admission to first-year classes in independent pre-university colleges of KLE Society, society director Mahantesh Kavatagimath said in Belagavi on Sunday.
He told reporters that over 4,450 students appeared for the scholarship examination last year. Of them, 357 were given scholarships worth ₹87 lakh in all.
“This time, the society is planning to increase the scholarship amount to around ₹1 crore,” he said.
Students who clear the scholarship examination with 70% marks and SSLC with 90% marks will get free admission to colleges in Belagavi, Bengaluru, Hubballi and Mumbai.
Those who score 70% in the scholarship exam and 85% in the SSLC examination will get free admission to colleges in Gokak, Chikkodi, Nippani and Athani.
“We will provide 25% discount on fees for independent PU colleges to 25 students who score more than 97% in the SSLC exam, 25 students who score more than 95% and 25 students who score more than 90% and secure the first place in high school,” he said.
The scholarship examination will consist of 50 questions. There will be 15 questions from Mathematics, 10 from Physics, 10 from Chemistry, 10 from Life Sciences and five questions from General Arithmetic and Reasoning.
The examination will be held on January 5 at the Independent Pre-University College in Nagarabhavi in Bengaluru and the Independent Pre-University College in Athani.
In addition, “we will organize examinations on January 19 and April 6 in colleges in Belagavi, Hubballi, Chikkodi, Nippani, Gokak, Bengaluru and Athani,” he said.
“We will also provide scholarships to those who get admission in the first year in the 27 pre-university colleges of KLE Society. However, this does not apply to the Independent Pre-University Colleges. Those who score more than 97% in the SSLC examination will be given up to ₹15,000. Those who score more than 95% will be given up to ₹10,000 and those who score more than 90% will be given up to ₹10,000. Those who do not appear for the scholarship examination can also get scholarship,” Mr. Kavatagimath said.
Apart from routine syllabus, the society’s colleges will train students for various competitive examinations. In 2023-24, 74 students of KLE Society have scored more than 500 marks in NEET, 29 students have scored more than 95% in JEE and 80 students have scored less than 10,000 in CET.
“As many as 148 students have been admitted to medical courses, 17 students have been admitted to IITs, NITs, IIITs, 1,657 students have been admitted to engineering departments and 113 students have been admitted to B.Sc Agriculture courses,” he said.
“The century-old society is in the forefront of providing quality education. This examination is being organized with a view to developing the children of this region to compete with students of prestigious educational institutions in the world market,” Mr. Kavatagimath, who is a former MLC, said.
