The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a double-decker bus at Munnar for sightseeing.
A statement issued by Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who flagged off the bus here on Tuesday, said the Munnar Royal View double-decker bus was designed to provide a 360-degree view of the tea plantations and high ranges from the bus.
The 100% transparent glass-panelled bus will have a seating capacity of 38 persons on the upper deck and 12 persons on the lower deck. The bus also has a lighting system suited for night safaris in the hill station. An advanced music system and a public information system are the other highlights of the bus.
Further, the facility for providing drinking water, snacks, drinks, and mobile charging has also been arranged. The KSRTC launched its double-decker bus service in Munnar, introduced as part of the budget tourism initiative of the State-run transport utility, following the good response it received from tourists for the double-decker bus services launched in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Munnar bus will operate services from January 1.
