Former PM PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh‘s relationship was both warm and professional. Rao fondly called Singh “Dr saab,” while Singh referred to Rao as “Rao saab.” Their conversations, particularly in the early 1990s, were centred on finding solutions to India’s economic woes, when foreign media reported on India’s declining economy. “They were so engrossed in their discussions that they often took up the time our grandfather had set aside for the family,” recalled NV Subhash, Rao’s grandson who is now with BJP.
