PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted the people of Mauritius on their National Day and expressed excitement about joining the celebrations.
PM Modi, in a post on X, shared highlights of his visit, including the grand welcome and his meeting with Mauritius PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam.
“National Day wishes to the people of Mauritius. Looking forward to today’s programmes, including taking part in the celebrations. Here are the highlights from yesterday, which were also very eventful with key meetings and programmes…,” PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X.

The two leaders met on Wednesday and discussed bilateral ties, exploring ways to further strengthen their special bond.
During the meeting, PM Modi said India is proud to be a trusted partner in Mauritius’ development, and both nations will work together to support the Global South.
Later, he attended a banquet hosted by Mauritius PM Navin Ramgoolam. Speaking at the event, Modi emphasised the strong bond between the two countries and their commitment to regional peace and prosperity.
In a historic move, the Mauritius PM announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honoured with the country’s highest award, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean. He is the first Indian to receive the honour.
