Prakasam district Collector Thameem Ansaria appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and work towards realising their dreams.
Speaking after flagging off a 5km marathon organised to create awareness on drug abuse, helmet usage and cancer in Ongole on Sunday, she termed drug consumption as a menace and urged the public to stay away from it. She also presented a cash prize of ₹20,000, ₹15,000 and ₹10,000 to those who emerged first, second and third respectively in the men’s and women’s categories.

Superintendent of Police (SP) A.R. Damodar said that it was unfortunate many youngsters ended up losing their lives due to drug abuse. He also cautioned the youth to wear helmets without fail while riding two-wheelers.
Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan Rao, meanwhile, called upon the youth to focus on a balanced diet and exercise to keep lifestyle disorders at bay. Santhanuthalapadu MLA B.N. Vijaykumar advised them to stay away from stressful activities and focus on meditation.
Additional SP K. Nageswara Rao, RISE College managing director Bharat and Tech Bulls chairman Bhaskar Reddy also took part in the event.
