A team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on Monday arrested an Assistant Executive Engineer of the Tangedco and his unofficial aide here on bribery charges.Â
Chandrasekar, 58, Tangedco engineer, and his private assistant Krishnamurthy, 34, were arrested based on a complaint lodged by Srinivasan of K.K. Nagar here.
DVAC sources said Mr. Srinivasan had applied for a three-phase power connection for a badminton court which he decided to construct at K.K. Nagar. When he approached the Assistant Executive Engineer Chandrasekar at Tangedco’s K.K. Nagar office, the engineer allegedly demanded ₹10,000 bribe, a release from the DVAC said. Mr. Srinivasan lodged a complaint with the DVAC, Tiruchi unit. A DVAC team laid a trap and arrested the Assistant Executive Engineer when he received ₹10,000 from Mr. Srinivasan and handed it over to Krishnamurthy in his office at K.K. Nagar.Â
