The 15th edition of the Calicut Half Marathon, organised by the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K)in association with the VKC Group, was held on Sunday (February 23).
A release said that around 4,500 runners, including those from Kenya, Ethiopia, France, and Japan,participated in the event organised near the Kozhikode beach. ‘Words in motion’ was this year’s theme as a tribute to Kozhikode’s status as a Unesco ‘City of Literature’. The marathon featured three race categories: 21 km half marathon (competitive), 10 km mini-marathon (competitive), and 3 km dream run (non-competitive).
The event was flagged off and concluded with an awards ceremony attended by Ayush Goel, Assistant Collector, VKC Mammad Koya, chairman, VKC Group, and K. Shashidar, Zonal Head, Central Bank of India. The marathon featured a total prize pool of ₹6 lakh. Results for all competitive race categories have been temporarily withheldand they will be announced soon after final verification of timings.
