CPI(M) State secretary said in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday that the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) was creating an unreasonable fuss about the Kerala Forest (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
He said the UDF’s gambit was to precipitate a sense of insecurity in the vast settler-farmer community and cultivate a bleak view of the government ahead of the local body elections later this year.
“The government has repeatedly clarified that it will remove any anti-farmer draconian provisions which vest untrammelled power on forest officials before introducing it in the Assembly. It would consult all stakeholders and political parties. The UDF was attempting to fish in muddy waters,” Mr. Govindan said.
