The Telangana government is considering establishing a Women’s Entrepreneurship Training Academy to equip women with the skills needed to become successful entrepreneurs, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said. The proposed academy will focus on skilling, reskilling, and upskilling women to foster economic empowerment.
Speaking in the Assembly on Saturday, Mr. Sridhar Babu also reiterated the government’s commitment to setting up mini-industrial parks for women in every Assembly constituency. He criticised the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for ‘neglecting’ micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) due to the absence of a comprehensive MSME policy.
“We have introduced a new MSME policy and placed it before people. Our goal is to encourage women entrepreneurs by offering incentives and subsidies as part of our vision to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2050,” he stated.
In the first phase, the government plans to establish mini-industrial parks in 20 of the State’s 119 Assembly segments, with work set to begin in the first week of April. He accused BRS of focusing development efforts on select constituencies like Siddipet and Sircilla, and said that Congress government would prioritise backward constituencies like Jukkal in its initiatives.
As part of the ‘Telangana Rising’ initiative, women’s entrepreneurship is a key focus area for promoting industrial growth. “Women’s participation is crucial for our economic ambitions. Keeping this in mind, we are also planning to establish an industrial park for women at Future City,” he said.
Additionally, the government plans to construct flatted factory complexes to support women entrepreneurs. Mr. Sridhar Babu also announced that special assistance would be considered for single women and single mothers who are part of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
