A 38-year-old woman and her two children were killed on the spot when their motorcycle crashed in to a moving tractor near Obalapura gate on Koratagere in Tumakuru early on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Mumtaz, 38, Mohammed Sahil, 16, and Mohammed Asif, 12. Sahil was riding the bike and he failed to notice the tractor in the fog and crashed around 6.30 a.m. The deceased are residents of Giddenahalli and were heading to visit their relative.
The bike struck the back of the tractor after the accident. Sahil was wearing a helmet but did not have a driving license.
Senior police officials visited the spot and registered a case of death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against Sahil, while detaining the tractor driver for further investigation.
The police have urged people to drive slowly on the highway especially during the early hours to avoid any eventualities due to fog and poor visibility.
