Hutti (Raichur): A second incident of sexual assault against a schoolgirl in the district was reported on Monday, with a 43-year-old man named Chandrashekhar arrested for his attempt to sexually assault a sixth-grade student.
The victim had gone to a shop to buy chocolate after lunch. The accused enticed her with the offer of giving her the chocolate personally, leading her to his residence where he attempted to sexually assault her.
Concerned neighbours noticed the suspicious behaviour of the accused as he took the girl away and acted inappropriately. They intervened when they witnessed Chandrashekhar’s attempt to assault the girl, prompting a crowd to gather.
Upon receiving the alert, Hutti police inspector Hosakerappa and his team quickly arrived at the scene. Police reported that Chandrashekhar refused to open the door when they knocked, necessitating forced entry to rescue the girl. He was arrested, and a Pocso case was filed against him at Hutti police station.
Earlier on Feb 5, a second-grade student was raped by a young man from her village in Manvi police limits. He lured the girl from school under the pretence of escorting her home, only to sexually assault her at a bus stand.
