Raichur Mayor Narasamma Narasimhalu has directed officials to maintain the shopping complex belonging to the City Municipal Corporation properly and fix rents for shops without giving a chance for any complaints about discrepancies.
She was chairing a general body meeting of the City Municipal Corporation at the Zilla Panchayat Auditorium in Raichur on Tuesday.
Ms. Narasimhalu said that rents against shops under the corporation should be proper and as per rules. “Officers should avoid complaints against irregularities in fixing rents,” she added.
MLC A. Vasant Kumar said that rents for shops already fixed should be revised and also agreements entered between the corporation and tenants should be inspected to ensure that business is run by actual occupants and not by third parties.
Corporator N. Srinivas sought an enquiry into the transfer of the corporation’s property to tenants by its own officers.
The other issue that was taken up was of fixing potholes on roads under the corporation limits on a priority basis. The naming of the road between Petlaburz and Mavinakere and Mansalapur was also discussed.
Corporators cutting across party lines joined hands together and discussed the issue of stray dog menace. They advised conducting a “census” and setting up a modern shed for them.
They also suggested setting up a welfare fund for journalists working in the corporation limits as it has already been done in Davangere. They stressed that the issue of sanctioning sites to journalists has to be discussed.
Deputy Mayor Sajid Sameer, Commissioner Jubin Mohapatra and others were present.
