The Rath Yatra was flagged off by deputy commissioner Nitish K from the historic Karnataka Sangha premises, which wore a celebratory look from the early hours of the day. The chariot, attractively decorated with flowers and garlands, drew the attention of the public. Adding colour to the event, Asha and anganwadi workers participated, wearing sarees of the same colour.The yatra is being organised jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat and the kannada and culture department. Following instructions from the administration, officials and staff from various departments attended the programme despite it being a Sunday holiday.A large number of school and college students participated enthusiastically, contributing to the success of the event. The procession passed through major roads of the city, including Bangar Bazaar, Sadar Bazaar, in front of the old municipal council office, Central Bus Terminus, Ambedkar Circle and Basaveshwara Circle, before proceeding towards Manvi.The Jyoti Rath Yatra will cover Manvi, Sindhanur, Maski, Lingasugur, Kavithal, Devdurg, Gabbur, Arakera, Sirwar and other parts of the district until Feb 5.Several elected representatives, senior officials and celebration committee members were present on the occasion.
