Torrential rainfall in the past 24 hours created havoc in both Yadgir and Raichur districts.
Owing to the heavy inflow to the Basavasagar reservoir at Narayanapur in Hunsagi taluk of Yadgir district and the Sannati bridge-cum-barrage at Sannati village in Chittapur taluk of Kalaburagi district, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigama Limited (KBJNL) authorities discharged 80,000 cusecs of water at 3 p.m. on Saturday to the Krishna from Basavasagar, while 4 lakh cusecs were discharged to the Bhima.
Meanwhile, the Yadgir district administration declared an orange alert in the district and cautioned people living on riverbanks against venturing into the river.

As floodwaters entered Hurasagundagi village, the administration shifted five families into the Kalaji Kendra.
The Yadgir district administration released a note stating that 18 sheep and goats were killed and 29 houses damaged.
A joint survey on crop loss is under way, and it has been estimated that around 1.14 hectares of agricultural land with standing crops have been damaged.

According to official data, Shahapur taluk received 47.6 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday. Shorapur received 60.4 mm, Yadgir 36.4 mm, Gurmitkal 33.7 mm, Wadagera 43.2 mm, and Hunsagi 55.4 mm.
The situation in Raichur district was the same. The Krishna caused crop damage and rainwater entered low-lying areas in Lingsugur, Hutti, Manvi, Mudnal, and many rural areas.Â
According to sources in the Agriculture Department, around 2,900 hectares of fields were estimated to be damaged.
Deodurg received 47.2 mm of rainfall, Lingsugur 66 mm, Manvi 53.8 mm, Raichur 48.4 mm, Sindhanur 59.4 mm, Maski 66.4 mm, and Sirwar 57.8 mm.
