The examinations for SSLC went on in a smooth, fair and transparent manner on the first day on Friday. The first paper was the language one consisting of Kannada, English and Urdu.Â
“The examinations were very peaceful. All arrangements had already been made for the students to appear,“ C.S. Mudhol, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, told The Hindu.
As many as 16,683 students were eligible to write the examinations and of them, 16,081 students appeared and 602 remained absent.
Of the total of 16,683 students, 5,229 students were eligible in Shahapur. But, 5,073 students appeared and remaining 156 remained absent. In Shorapur, a total of 5,389 students were supposed to appear but, 5,150 did while 239 remained absent.
In Yadgir, of 6,065 students, 5,858 students appeared and 207 students remained absent, Mr. Mudhol said and added that no malpractice incidents were reported in the district.
The department had set up 62 examination centres across the district; of which, 21 were in Shahapur, 19 in Shorapur and 22 in Yadgir taluk.Â
The District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Education and Home Departments have put maximum effort to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations.Â
Drinking water and other facilities were promptly provided to the students, the DDPI said. The next examination will be on Monday.
The district administration had imposed a prohibitory order within a 200m radius from the examination centre and ordered that all Xerox centers and bookstalls remain closed during the examination hours.
The students were also directed not to carry any electronic equipment including digital watches or calculators in the examination halls. They were advised to be at the centre on time.Â
In Raichur
Of 31,617 eligible students, 30,498 students appeared and remaining 1,119 students were absent.
In Deodurga, out of 4,382 students, 4,278 appeared and 104 remained absent. In Lingasagur, out of 6,562 students, 6,368 appeared and 194 remained absent. In Manvi, out of 5,857 students, 5,577 appeared and 280 remained absent. In Raichur, out of 9,120 students, 8,776 appeared and 344 remained absent, and in Sindhanur, out of 5,696 students, 5,499 appeared and 197 were absent.
The Education Department set up 97 examination centres in the district. Of these, 15 were in in Deodurga, 18 each in Lingasagur and Manvi, 27 in Raichur and 19 in Sindhanur taluk.
The examinations went on in smooth manner and no cases of malpractice were reported, sources said.
