Lucknow Super Giants pacer Shardul Thakur equalled the record of the longest over ever bowled in the Indian Premier League during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday. Shardul bowled 11 deliveries in the 13th over, equalling an unwanted record previously set by Tushar Deshpande and Mohammed Siraj.
Thakur started his third over of the spell with five wides in a row before completing the over where he gave 13 runs and picked the wicket of KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane.
Both Tushar and Siraj recorded 11-ball over in IPL 2023. Playing for Chennai Super Kings, Tushar bowled an 11-ball over against LSG while Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Siraj took 11 balls to complete his over against Mumbai Indians.
Thakur was expensive with the ball and ended with a figure of 4-0-52-2. Kolkata failed to chase a big total of 239 and managed 234/7 after 20 overs to lost by just four runs. It was KKR’s third loss while LSG got their third win in IPL 2025.
Earlier, invited to bat first, Lucknow posted 238/3 after their openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram added 99 for the first wicket. Marsh got out on 81 before Nicholas Pooran played a brilliant 36-ball 87, helping LSG to get their second-highest total in IPL.
