Virat Kohli will be ready with a different reply for KL Rahul: Sanjay Bangar

Former India cricketer and batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter Virat Kohli will be ready to give a fitting reply to Delhi Capitals star KL Rahul for his Chinnaswamy Stadium celebration. Bangar emphasised that Kohli would be looking to stage a similar moment on his home ground, just as KL Rahul did at Chinnaswamy after his match-winning knock when RCB and DC met earlier in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.

KL Rahul, after guiding DC to a six-wicket win over RCB in their April 10 clash with an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls, celebrated to signal that Chinnaswamy Stadium was now his “home turf.” The April 27 clash between the two sides now presents Kohli with the opportunity to do something similar, with the match set to be played at his home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. However, Bangar, speaking to Star Sports, suggested that Kohli might take his reply a notch higher by pointing towards the stand named after him at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

“I think Virat would do a little bit differently. I think he will show that, ‘OK, that pavilion in which you’re sitting, it’s mine’. Who’s the boss? Virat is the boss there,” Bangar said.

KL Rahul took the chance to leave his mark in front of his home crowd after defeating RCB. Kohli, who is known for never taking celebrations against his side lightly, may well pull off something memorable – especially given his brilliant form this season.

Both KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have been in superb form with the bat for their respective sides in the ongoing IPL 2025. KL has added fresh aggression to his game, scoring 323 runs across his seven matches this season and often playing a pivotal role for DC. Kohli, meanwhile, has been consistently impactful for RCB, scoring 392 runs in his nine matches, which has put him firmly in the Orange Cap race.

Beyond the individual battle between the two stars, DC and RCB will also be fighting for top-of-the-table supremacy when they meet on Sunday. While both sides are tied at 12 points each, Delhi Capitals sit second due to having played one less game compared to Bengaluru.
