BJP Demands Change in RRR Alignment

Hyderabad: BJP Rajya Sabha member and party OBC Morcha chief Dr K. Laxman on Saturday demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy change the alignment of the northern part of the Regional Ring Road to protect the interests of the farmers.

BJP leaders staged a protest in front of Yadadri district collectorate to press for the demand on Saturday.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Dr Laxman said the party opposed the attitude of the state government for coming down heavily on aggrieved farmers who have been raising objections. “At Lagcharla, the police clamped down on agitating farmers. They lathicharged innocent farmers and sent some to the prison. A similar situation is developing Bhongir,” the BJP MP said.

Dr Laxman stated that Centre had come forward for the construction of the Regional Ring Road to develop rural areas. The onus of acquiring land was on the state government. “However, the state government has not treated all the regions which fall under RRR alike. It has adopted one approach in the southern part and the another in the northern part,” he said.

“In the southern part the alignment was fixed 40 km away from the Outer Ring Road but within 30 km in the northern part,” he said.
