Deepanshu Onkar, a Senior Analyst from Mumbai, says, “Virtual egg hunts initially gained prominence during pandemic times, but the tradition has only reached greater heights.” Deepanshu opines that virtual egg hunts fit well in today’s time. Many families that are scattered due to work or any other reasons get a chance to come together and keep up with the tradition.

The Egg hunt trend starts with a simple mass text or mail sent to family or friends. Here, you may choose to list details such as the time and date of the virtual egg hunt, certain clues pertaining to hiding spots and so on.
Be sure to also include the videoconferencing app of your choice. This app would help serve as the play area for all those who engage in. One could choose from FaceTime, Zoom or Skype or you name it! The theme revolves around every participating member having crazy-filled easter bunnies hidden for the others to spot and find. Deepanshu says, “The thrill lies in having an easter egg hunt online unlike the usual in-person ones.”

Not just a virtual egg hunt theme, people across the globe are engaging in activities such as Easter-themed cooking classes that help them prepare only ‘easter-themed treats’ to craft homemade chocolates. There is a call for an Easter fancy-dress parade too. With participants showcasing their colorful hats or costumes. Zella Fernandes says, “One of the most recent trends is where people come together and have Easter Egg decorating sessions with friends and family.” It is followed by fun games and a nice good brunch.
While many people still engage in physical egg-hunt gatherings, the virtual egg hunt space yet serves as a safe spot. Elaine Dias adds, “It feels like sharing a little bit of joy across screens which might be digital but the fun and laughter are what everyone needs in a fast-paced world.”
