Nagarkurnool: Residents of Mailaram village in Balmur mandal staged a protest against mining on Monday. Farmers are set to begin an indefinite strike with the slogan “Mining Vaddu, Gutta Muddu”. As a precautionary measure, the police detained farmers and locals, shifting them to the police station. The locals demanded the immediate release of the detained farmers, claiming they were held illegally. A large number of women and farmers participated in the protest.
Meanwhile, police detained human rights activists Professor Haragopal and Gaddam Laxman at Veldanda and shifted them to the police station. They were on their way to express solidarity with the farmers of Mailaram.
